Viivi Altonen is a 24-year-old scuba-diving teacher and model from Tampere, Finland. She’s currently studying social psychology and anthropology due to her curiousity about the human mind and social behaviors.
Viivi has traveled to over 30 countries and lived in four – Mozambique, India, Switzerland and Finland. Thanks to these travels, she now speaks English fluently - in addition to her mother tongue, Finnish, and also speaks basic Swedish and German.
Through these experiences, she became increasingly aware of the vast inequalities between genders all around the world, even in her home country Finland – considered one of the most equal countries worldwide.
This motivated her to volunteer for UN Women and launch her #SheCan campaign, to keep the discussion about equal rights ongoing and to empower young women to work towards their dreams – no matter what they are, where they come from or what they have experienced. Her message is that everything is possible if you believe in yourself – and she lives this message herself.
Viivi is a scuba diving instructor and had an encounter with a shark in Mozambique, Africa!
Viivi is passionate about the human mind and wants to study human behavior, how it affects our society and how it varies culturally.
While Viivi lived in India, she took part in a Bollywood film and was treated like a movie star.
