Yesenia is a first-generation Mexican-American. Having a very Latin upbringing but being born and raised in the USA, she has had the best of both worlds! Driven by her goals and encouraged by her history of overcoming hurdles, Yesenia is not afraid of taking risks. Her parents have been a prime example in her life.
They have taught her that if there is a will, there is always a way. Yesenia uses her past experiences as motivation to help others. One of the causes she is passionate about is eradicating hunger and volunteers with local food banks in Arizona. Her purpose is not only to help, but to be an example for others to volunteer and make a difference one meal at a time.
If she were to win the title of Miss USA, she would continue to advocate for eradicating hunger, but this time on a national level.
My mom traded cleaning services for dance lessons when I was a kid. This taught me the importance of hard work and that if you want something badly enough you will find a way to make it happen.
I am a first-generation Mexican-American.
