Mpule Kwelagobe was the first Miss Universe Botswana to participate in the Miss Universe competition and the first winner from Botswana. Following her reign as Miss Universe, Mpule she was appointed as a Goodwill Ambassador by the United Nations, United focusing on youth and HIV/AIDS.
