Mardi Gras Parade
The City of Shreveport, LA held a Mardi Gras Parade in Downtown Shreveport for the Miss USA & Miss Teen USA contestants. The parade began outside of the legendary Shreveport Municipal Memorial Auditorium located on Grand Ave at 12 pm. The building is known for Elvis Presley’s memorable 1956 performance, where the phrase “Elvis has left the building” was coined.
The 102 Miss USA and Miss Teen USA contestants cruised along Downtown Shreveport atop a variety of elaborately decorated Mardi Gras-themed floats. They were led by Miss USA 2017 Kára McCullough and Miss Teen USA 2017 Sophia Dominguez-Heithoff, who rode in luxury vintage vehicles.
The parade lasted for approximately 30 minutes. The City of Shreveport showed up and showed out for the contestants and the girls had a great time interacting with the local community and launching hundreds of Mardi Gras “throws” at the crowd.
The Miss Universe Organization would like to thank the City of Shreveport, local police department, and community for all of your support and assistance during the parade.
