BLOG: 5 Beauty Tips and Tricks From Miss DC Teen USA 2017
Written By Miss DC Teen USA 2017 Karis Felton
If there's one thing that’s really hit home for me during my year as your Miss DC Teen USA, it's that young women are always on the go! Whether you're like me heading to an appearance, or an internship, or a new school, putting your best foot forward is always important! Here are 5 Tips and Tricks that I've gathered throughout my reign to help you be as beautiful on the outside as you already are on the inside!
1) Use This Natural Remedy to Clear Your Acne!
We've all been there before – a breakout the night before a big event. No one likes it but it happens, so you need to be prepared! Whenever I need to get rid of a pimple overnight, I grab my handy Tea Tree Oil! You don't need a lot (the oil is strong!), so just put a little bit on a Q-Tip, dab it on your pimple, and you'll be good to go by the AM!
2) Don't Let Sweat Kill Your Vibe!
You never know when you're going to get to fit in a quick workout or when you’ll get overheated, so make sure to keep a pack of face wipes in your backpack, purse, or car! That way, whenever you break that sweat, you can wipe off the oils right away and help to make sure they don't build up and cause breakouts!
3) Help Prevent Breakouts!
I have super oily skin so one big thing I've learned from this year and all the makeup I've worn is that primer is a MUST! Not only does it make the makeup appear brighter and last longer, it also creates a great barrier between your skin and the makeup so that the oils don't clog your pores!
4) Keep Your Lips Soft and Luscious!
When I was younger, I tended to struggle with chapped lips especially in the winter. This year when I faced chapped lips in the cold D.C. winters, I ran to my nearest grocery store and grabbed some Vaseline! Just apply a nice coat of it to your lips before you go to sleep, and you'll wake up with super moist lips in the morning!
5) Help Your Skin Stay Extra Smooth!
Dry skin really can be such a problem, so the key to locking in moisture is using lotion as soon as you've finished showering! Personally, I love to use in-shower lotions to try to lock the moisture in while I'm still under running water and then finish with a light coat of cocoa butter once I'm out. Never on the face, only on the body though! Make sure to use a lotion designed for your face so that you don't damage that sensitive skin or clog your pores!
Those are my 5 Beauty Tips and Tricks for you guys! I hope that you all are able to put these tips to good use and that they're super helpful! Always remember – the number one beauty tip is to be confidently beautiful.
