Miss PA USA Fights Body Stigma

Having battled an eating disorder herself, the recently crowned Miss Pennsylvania 2017 Cassandra Angst plans to educate other girls who worry about their body.

She says that body shaming is heavily prevalent in today’s culture via social media and misinformation on the subject.  Cassandra says body image problems can occur in girls as young as 6 and persist to college and beyond.  She says, “If I can save one life, or change one little girl’s life, it would mean the world to me.”

After competing against the other women from her home state, she told The Courier Times, “A lot of them are strong, confident women. It’s good to surround yourself with people like that,” she said. “I’m just very lucky to have been given the crown, because any girl could have won.”
