Born 19th Nov 1975 to Wing Commander Subir Sen, an officer with the Indian Air Force and his wife Shubra Sen, Sushmita Sen grew up with younger brother Rajiv Sen. She studied at the Kendriya Vidyalaya a Hindi medium school and finally graduated from the Air Force Golden Jubilee Institute in 1992.  She was the proverbial dark horse at the Miss India 1994 competition, sprinting to a memorable and most celebrated victory by becoming the youngest Miss India in 1994. Later that year in MAY 1994 at the Miss Universe pageant, Sushmita Sen created history as the first ever Indian to win the coveted title and was crowned in Manila, Philippines as the 43rd Miss Universe.  “God’s Favorite child”, is who she proclaims to be.  41 years old , she is a Bollywood actor, an entrepreneur, a philanthropist  and a single mother to her daughters, 17 year old Renee and 7 year old Alisah. In a land where progeny is largely genetic, she chose to have her children, "born from the heart”. As an actor in Bollywood for 20 years and counting, she has received awards and accolades for her work from all the mainstream award ceremonies in the country, namely, Filmfare, Zee, IIFA, and Screen.   Sushmita Sen holds the distinction of receiving the ‘Rajiv Gandhi Award’ twice. Once for bringing 'honour to the country'… and once again for her 'extraordinary achievement in the film industry’. She has also been honored with the Rashtriya Samman Award for being a woman of substance by the Education Ministry. the 'Yuvratna Young Achievers of India' , and the 'Peacemakers of the World, Osaka, Japan’, an award instituted by Mother Teresa herself. Having lived her life on her own terms, she has been the face of many global brands, Coca Cola, Thumbs Up, Colgate, Lux, Carmichael House, Tag Heuer, Levis, Pantene, Olay, Kiah, Jafra and Assotech, to name a few. She is currently the global brand ambassador for the real estate giant “Danube” from the Middle East. In 2005 she incorporated TANTRA Entertainment Pvt. Ltd, a Films and events company, bringing her desire to be an entrepreneur to fruition. In 2009, she founded ‘I AM', a brand born to her personal and Humane beliefs and launched 'I AM She’- the first business vertical of I AM, post acquiring the Indian Franchise to the Miss Universe competition, a platform she used for women empowerment from 2009 until 2012. She stood tall as the face of 'I AM She', and the mentor behind every young woman groomed to represent INDIA, at the Miss Universe and other international pageants.   In 2010, she launched the 'I AM Foundation', the giving arm of I AM, having at it's core, the deep desire to celebrate individual life, in order to change the world one life at a time. Towards this goal, I AM Foundation’s first commitment was the nurturing and education of  9 young children in Vrindawan. Through the trust she also works with like minded individuals who are the driving force behind NGO's like CPAA, ANI, The Research Society, and Bal Asha Trust, to raise funds and create awareness globally. This journey of ‘I AM’ is what she celebrates as her true calling, to rise beyond limitations to the infinite potential of each individual life. An unapologetic avant-garde and an icon to aspiring young minds, she continues to lead by example.  Sushmita Sen is synonymous with the famous saying in Latin 'Aut viam inveniam aut faciam'...we either find a way, or make one. From being India’s first ever Miss Universe in 1994 in the Philippines, to owning the Miss Universe Franchise in India to now being a judge at the 65th Miss Universe pageant in the Philippines again, Ms. Sushmita Sen (Miss Universe 1994) comes a full circle !
