Valeria Rees is a happy, determined woman passionate about the nature of her country Costa Rica, working to accomplish her dreams of being a businesswoman to motivate other young women to embrace their talent and power.
She is a law student, and her goal is to graduate from law school and psychology. She volunteers at Somos Picnic CR, and since her experience surviving anorexia and living a healthy lifestyle, she realized that this could be a luxury to many. She wanted to give a helping hand to those in need by donating, cooking, and handing out meals to families and children in poverty in Barrio Cuba San Jose.
Valeria is an advocate to raise awareness about eating disorders and mental health because after living with anorexia for three years, she understood that your mind is powerful, but its power can be used against you if you are not in a healthy mindset or environment, so she created a platform called Open Cage where she speaks on her experience with anorexia, and giving people the tools to fight against it, identify it on time, help people understand the struggle of recovery and mostly motivating any person going through this to know that recovery is a beautiful process and the most freeing and that it feels liken escaping a cage that has had you locked out of life.
I have traveled to 9 countries of all different cultures by the age of 24 due to modeling.
I grew up in Canada, and I learned English just by being there, it was one of the best experiences ever, and it created one of the best childhoods ever.
I used to collect bugs as a child, in Costa Rica we have a lot of biodiversity, and I was obsessed with animals (still am) so in the beetle season I would collect every type of beetle.
