Sofía Depassier was born and raised in Chile, where she lived until the age of ten until she moved with her mother to the United States following her parent’s divorce. She and her family experienced discrimination, bullying, and racism as a result of not knowing the local language and having cultural differences with the local people. As a result, she felt compelled to collaborate with other immigrants seeking a better quality of life. Fueled by this passion, she created the project “Universe Without Frontiers,” the focus of which is to provide the necessary tools for children and young people in need of guidance after moving to a new country.

Depassier is passionate about different causes related to gender equality and women’s well-being. In an effort to be a leader to young women around the world, she founded and manages the @womenalert social network which aims to improve visibility and education on issues that affect women. Topics include; the right to body autonomy, reducing stereotypes of beauty, mental health, and body dysmorphia.
