Maria (Mia) Mamede is a Brazilian TV host, film producer, entrepreneur, and philanthropist. After graduating from New York University in Audiovisual Journalism and Socioeconomics, she worked for Brazil’s largest networks as a travel, culture and sports TV host and producer. Mamede opened her own audiovisual production company with a mission to leverage entertainment to drive cultural understating and break stereotypes by drawing from her own international background.
As a third culture “kid,” Mamede had the opportunity to learn five languages and live through all sorts of cultures, from the (far) East to the West. This experience has forged her into an open-minded, confident, and sociable woman who appreciates diversity and advocates against social injustice and discrimination.
Mamede began her philanthropic initiatives in 2011 as a volunteer teacher for children in a socially vulnerable community. She continues to do so today in Brazilian favelas with projects that strengthen the education of children and their mothers. In addition, she’s an active spokesperson for the United Nations’ 2030 Agenda and the Humpback Whale Project in her hometown.
Mamede is very proud of her Brazilian origins and feels honored to represent such a multicultural country. Yet, she also represents the modern world citizen, ready to be a voice for dialogue and to bridge differences
