Laksmi De Neefe Suardana is the first Balinese woman to represent Indonesia at Miss Universe. From Ubud to the Universe, she is inspired to share her beloved Indonesia with the world. She is dedicated to assisting disadvantaged communities across Indonesia with literacy programs.

After completing her Bachelor studies in Fashion Business in Italy, she returned to Bali during the pandemic with the aim to help children gain access to quality education and find solutions to end learning poverty. She taught English to children in poor neighborhoods in Bali and is affiliated with the Bali Children Foundation, a nonprofit that helps thousands of children complete school. She began an IG Live Book Club for the Ubud Writers & Readers Festival to encourage young Indonesians to read.

She is currently running her campaign #LaksmiForLiteracy campaign and is writing a children’s book to highlight Jakarta as UNESCO’s City of Literature.
