Daena Soares is a 22-year-old aesthetician who truly embodies the Jamaican motto, "Out of many, one people".
Born in the parish of Manchester, but raised in the bread basket parish of St. Elizabeth, she saw firsthand the importance of female empowerment through the staggering examples of incredible women all around her; from farmers to entrepreneurs.
Daena has partnered with both government and non-government organizations in the struggle to create equal access to resources and opportunities for women and girls. Presently, she uses her platform to focus on teenage pregnancy and period poverty.
I moved half way around the world at age 11, only to move back 8 months later.
I made an anatomical discovery that, to our knowledge, hasn't been well documented.
Swimming is one of my favorite pastimes and I learned to swim in a very organic way- at a nearby river, the Rastafarian guide instructed my dad to simply throw me off in the deep end.
