Multi-Platinum, Grammy Award Winning Latin Superstar Marc Anthony To Perform Live

Model Daisy Fuentes and Former NFL Great Phil Simms To Host

San Juan, Puerto Rico, May 21, 2002 – The Miss Universe Organization today announced the star-studded panel of distinguished judges for THE 51ST ANNUAL MISS UNIVERSE® competition. Miss Universe 2002 will be broadcast live from San Juan, Puerto Rico on Wednesday, May 29, 2002 on the CBS Television Network (9 pm ET/delayed PT).

The telecast panel will be comprised of R&B singer and Guess model Tyrese, Fashion Designer Nicole Miller, Men’s Fashion Designer Amir, CBS Family Law’s Christopher McDonald, former Baywatch beauty and Sheena star Gena Lee Nolin, Chinese entrepreneur Yue-Sai Kan, NFL’s offensive MVP Marshall Faulk, Marisol Malaret Miss Universe 1970, and Survivor Africa winner Ethan Zohn.

As previously announced, Multi-Platinum, Grammy Award winning Latin superstar Marc Anthony will perform live during the two-hour international telecast, which will be hosted by actress and model Daisy Fuentes and former NFL legend Phil Simms.

At the conclusion of the two-hour primetime telecast, Denise Quinones, MISS UNIVERSE 2001, will crown her successor before an estimated worldwide viewing audience of 600 million in more than 176 countries and territories. Each contestant will be judged in three categories, including swimsuit, evening gown and interview.

Marc Anthony
Marc Anthony has sold more records than any other salsa artist, and has earned multi-platinum status with his self-titled English language album. He has also starred on Broadway in Paul Simon's "The Capeman" and in the Martin Scorsese feature film "Bringing Out the Dead." In 1999, Anthony earned a Grammy nomination for Best Male Pop Vocal Performance for his hit song “I Need to Know,” and, "Dimelo," the Spanish-language version of "I Need to Know," earned him a Latin Grammy for Song of the Year. The album's second single, "You Sang To Me," hit #1 on the Billboard Adult Contemporary Chart and received a Grammy nomination for Best Pop Vocal Performance (2000).

Daisy Fuentes
From model to actress to TV host, Daisy Fuentes is a household name with viewers around the world. The first crossover VJ to appear on both the Spanish language MTV Latino and the original MTV, Fuentes has co-hosted several programs on the cable music network, including One on One with Michael Jordan and Fashionably Loud. She has been a host on MTV Internacional and MTV Latino, as well as host of MTV's House of Style. This marks Daisy Fuentes’ second time hosting the Miss Universe competition; in 1995 she hosted the show in Namibia, Africa.

Phil Simms
Phil Simms, Super Bowl XXI MVP and a 15-year NFL veteran, joined CBS Sports in January 1998 as lead analyst for the CBS Television Network's coverage of the NFL. He and Greg Gumbel were paired as the Network's lead NFL announce team and commentated CBS's coverage of Super Bowl XXXV in January 2001. Prior to joining CBS Sports, Simms served as a game analyst for NBC, along with Dick Enberg and Paul Maguire (1995-98). Simms called Super Bowls XXX and XXXII, announced weightlifting events for NBC Sports' coverage of the 1996 Olympic Summer Games, he has served as a sideline reporter on The NBA on NBC and worked on the NFL Quarterback Challenge and Run to Daylight. In addition, he served as a studio analyst for ESPN.
