I know it is over and done but as I sit here this morning preparing for my daughter's pageant this weekend I am a little sad. Miss USA ( and me associating all pageant s together) has lost some of it's sparkle. People ask me why i would want to put my daughter in these things. Oh your one of those moms:( I want to say because they teach grace and poise and build self esteem. They create strong independant women.... but I don't feel I can say they they create intelligent, faithful, honest women who speak their mind and stick to their beliefs. For that is how Carrie Prejean fell. I would never be proud of my daughter if she were to berate, belittle, or otherwise be disrespectful to another for their religion, beliefs or choices, but I would be sad to see her be forced to hide her beliefs and opinions to be accepted- even by Miss USA. I don't feel Carrie gave a disrespectful, hateful, or harmful answer. It was perfectly acceptable. Isn't it okay to be tolerant of people's choices while holding to your own beliefs without being made out to be a monster? I sometimes have to wonder if these women do have a brain or if they are all barbies- just told what to say, to follow like sheep and never be an individual with feelings, opinions and beliefs. I just feel there is a place for everyone and if answering your own opinion in a respectful yet honest way is wrong then is this really something young women should aspire to? My daughter is young and as we begin this journey there is just a little bit of wariness as to what will come with the future should she progress. I hope we find more positives than negatives on our journey.

You are absolutely correct...there should not have been a backlash towards Miss Then California for answering the question honestly and truthfully. It was in her own words and if you didin't like or respected ALL potential answers to the question...then don't ask that question at all. I support equal rights and therefor I support same sex marriage but I will never defend my choice with spewing idiotically self centered remarks just to appease my overblown ego. And look what happened at the Miss Universe Pageant this year.....Miss USA is in the negative spotlight for accusations of inappropriate comments to fellow contestants.(No Surprise To Me ). She was in a league where she was the underdog and she let the real kid out of the bag. And to think the comments in questioned were towards the actual winner....Miss Valenzuela. Just goes to show Brandi never had a chance to win by being part of a lower grade of contestant caliber IMHO.
She was out classed and out of her league period and IMHO I still think the former Miss California would have done better against those international beauties. Don't get a rash just relax and enjoy the ride as Brandi becomes the next foal point of our countries tabloids and undesired blissfulness... but on the other hand she does have Perez Hilton...oopw.

I believe that the pageant life is over for former Miss Cali-USA. She's been publically humiliated, and stripped of her title. In Miss USA, she seemed to have given an honest answer to the question. The person asking the quesion should have chosen a less controversial question if he has to act immature in front of the world. In the news the Miss California USA org. plans to sue her over funds for augmentation! They should really let her move on

I agree with the idea that the judges this year should ask less controversial final questions. If possible, there should be more mature judges in front of cameras.

I agree with you. I've been a pageant fan for many years, particularly the Mu Org., but the days of class seem to be over. As for Ms. Prejean, that is unfortunate what happened to her, and I believe that the Org. should have backed her fully. She really should have been the Miss USA, but that years officials allowed an immature person to judge, and defame her. That person clearly showed that he had personal issues, and should have been the one to experience what she went through. What does that say about todays pageants? It seems that if a judge takes your opinion personal, then you're publically humiliated?!!

I also agree with you. I think that The current Miss USA is very beautiful, but like you said out of her league. There was no competition against even the Asian beauties! Ms. Dalton lacked in the area of
being regal, and stylish. I don't really blame her for that, because i'm sure she had a stylist. As you said
she was OUT CLASSED, and Prejean would've probably came very close to winning.
