Back from the Bahamas… back to work!

posted by Kristen Dalton at 07:48am on 02/01/2010

To summarize my trip to the Bahamas from my last blog, it was wonderful!! Miss Canada, Mariana Valente, was there with me at the Michael Jordan Celebrity Golf Invitational so we got to share all the events together. The weather was absolutely wonderful the whole time and I just wanted to bring it with me to NYC.

Stormi, Stef and I had our Fadil photo shoot together bright and early in the morning on Tuesday and it was a long day. It was fun being able to shoot together though. We all cheered each other on and kept each other energized throughout the day. Our new stylist, Alisha did a phenomenal job styling us and I can not wait for all of you to see the rest of our photos. The creative styling is so great! Thanks Ro and Alisha! The three of us went to dinner after the shoot, which is always a great and interesting time.

Wednesday, Stef and I got to visit Beth Israel hospital as volunteers for Project Sunshine and we visited children and babies that are in the hospital for various reasons. It was really an experience that was so touching. The children were so sweet and adorable and I didn't want to leave them. I wanted to bring one little baby home with me. He had the biggest, warmest smile in the world and made my heart melt. Working with children is my favorite!

Today, I had an on air hosting class at NYFA, where I learned that I need to eliminate my umms, because I seem to love using that thought connector. I sat in on a journalism class and observed the behind the scenes actions of producing a News show. There is so much that goes into it! It really is amazing.

This weekend, I will be researching more about US and Chinese relations, learning Mandarin words and watching Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon in order to prepare for a TV show I will be hosting. I will tell you all more about that next week!!

Have a spectacular week :-)

I am so glad to read that I'm not the only one with a "thought connector" habit! We just filmed the B Girls and during one of teh interviews, the judges tore into me about my 'UMMMMS!" It seems the harder I try to STOP, the MORE i use "um!" Any ideas or tips on how toovercome this? (PS I have a friend who uses "like" LIKE ALL THE TIME! Maybe tips for "um" would work for her to!
