Riyo traveled back to her native Japan with Natalia Guimaraes, Miss Brazil and 1st Runner-Up at Miss Unvierse 2007, for "Brazil Week in Japan." They were named Japan-Brazil "Friendship Ambassadors" in Tokyo. The event celebrated the centennial of the Japanese community in Brazil. The event was sponsored by the Nichirei Corporation, where Riyo was an honored guest and received the title of "Japan-Brazil 100-Years Exchange" Ambassador.
