Sydney West was bullied and forced to transfer for her senior year, leaving the teachers, friends, and environment she called home since 8th grade. Channeling her energy, Syd became a “Unite Against Bullies Today Ambassador”. Active in 17 states, UAB Today has reached over 800,000 students. At 15, she created “Girl Power” a presentation designed to empower girls to pursue academic, personal, and career choices of their dreams. She has interviewed 30 career professionals and included their personal stories in the “career” section of her website www.girlsknowhow101.webs.com. The program has reached over 1500 girls. Sydney works closely with organizations such as Girl Scouts, YMCA, Mothers Against Drunk Driving, Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals and Connecticut Fallen Heroes. Sydney is excited to graduate this year; her future plans include a career as a newly signed MMG model, establishing a non-profit foundation and attending college to become a cardiac surgeon.
