Kimberly Layne is a senior this year at Skyview High School in Nampa, Idaho. There, she is president of the National Honor Society president and a member of Health Occupations Students of America (HOSA) and Idaho Drug Free Youth. In the summer of 2010, Kim traveled to Orlando, Florida, with a HOSA team and competed in the HOSA Bowl, a game show competition designed to test a person's health care knowledge. Her team placed sixth in the country.
Kim is also a track and field athlete. She competes in the 400-meter, triple jump, and long jump. In 2010, she placed second in the state the triple jump. In her spare time, Kim enjoys volunteering in at the Salvation Army and the Canyon County Animal Shelter.
After high school, Kim hopes to move to the West Coast to attend college. Eventually, she plans to have a career in veterinary medicine. She wants to combine her love of animals with her passion for science and medicine.
