Courtney Smits

Hometown: McDonough

Age: 18

Courtney Lynne Smits dedicates her life to supporting soldiers and their families. She grew up in a military family; her dad was a Special Forces officer, and her mom was a military intelligence officer. Even though her parents are retired, Courtney continues to support the troops. At age 10, Courtney started her own organization, Queens For Courage, which raises support and awareness for wounded soldiers who require prosthetic care.

Courtney is also involved in her school's Naval Junior ROTC program. Her brother, Trevor, is one of the senior leaders in this program, which is ranked no. 1 nationally, and will train to become an Army officer upon graduation.

When not participating in NJROTC competitions, Courtney enjoys working on her grandparents' farm, spending time with friends and family, riding horses, and swimming.
