Q: What is the craziest thing you have ever done?
A: With snow falling around me at my local ski resort, I skied off of a 6-foot jump and landed my first back flip on skis! To paint the full picture, I did not land my first attempt. On my first jump, I plopped over on my side, but immediately, my skis were on my shoulders and I was hiking back up the hill for another try. The second jump ended in a nasty tumble and another hike back up the mountain. Despite that, on my third attempt, I took off towards the jump, faster than before. In midair, the clouds spun, I looked around and....I landed solid! I was the first female to back flip with skis on at the resort! The rush of adrenaline was worth the risk. Now, I compete at a national level and am training to become an Olympic skier.
Q: Do you cook and/or bake anything? If so, what are your special dishes?
A: Recently, I have become quite the spices master, changing up the flavors of steamed veggies, omelets, and seafood. However, my previous baking experiences were more adventurous.
Q: If you were handed 10 million dollars, what would you splurge on?
A: Education and adventure are amazing things to spend money on. After first setting aside plenty to cover my college education, I would then plan trips for other kids and myself. I would give kids a chance to live their traveling adventures through donations to the Make A Wish Foundation. My donations would give children with terminal illnesses a bit of their dreams!
Q: If you could meet one celebrity, who would it be and why?
A: I wish I would have had the opportunity to meet Grace Kelly. Words used to describe this fashion icon include refined, elegant and timeless. As a pageant titleholder, I have grown a deeper appreciation for fashion - probably because I have done a lot of shopping in the past year :-). Who better to meet than a princess herself, Grace Kelly? As pageant royalty, I would love to join the ranks of Grace Kelly, fashion royalty. Not to mention, her father was a 3-time Olympic gold medalist.
Q: What is unique about you (something no other contestant can say about themselves)?
A: My unique athletic ability started off with my school's traveling jump rope team. We performed at schools across the state doing wild routines to music, and I was one crazy jump roper. I can do under the leg, behind the back crosses, and fast double-under spins. I set the school record on American Heart Association's, "Jump Rope for Heart Day" of jumping 37 minutes without missing!
