Shawn McClain currently serves as the VP of Business Development and Marketing at the Miss Universe Organization. He works to structure and secure host site, advertising and corporate sponsorship agreements for domestic and international broadcasts, in addition to revenue streams from endorsements, TV & digital distribution. Shawn heads the company's Spanish language negotiations, actively seeks new partnerships in the U.S. & Latin markets and is very excited to help expand the Miss Universe Organization's licensing efforts across various product categories.
Shawn graduated from the full-time MBA program at NYU Stern's School of Business where he focused on Luxury Marketing and Management, as well as
bolstered his practical knowledge of business, finance, leadership and the power of teamwork. He served as the President of the Stern Student Government (SGov), an elected position, acting as the chief representative of the student body. Shawn also Co-Chaired the class gift to the Dean's Fund. The campaign, branded "383 Strong," reached 99% participation- the highest in NYU Stern's history.
Shawn worked in the Product Development division of the digital department at Telemundo in Miami during his time at Stern. There he gained insight into customized advertising packages and the future of content consumption, delivery and user engagement- all in an innovative and exciting Latin environment.
Shawn is passionate about the Same Sky Trade Initiative, a social enterprise business with operations in Rwanda, Zambia and the U.S. Same Sky offers female victims of the Rwandan genocide a "hand-up" not a "hand-out" by teaching sustainable skills and offering employment, contributing greatly to their personal livelihood and to the global women empowerment movement.
Shawn enjoys cooking, traveling, biking and learning about the global economy. He thoroughly appreciates good customer service and can never understand why every major city slows to a crawl when it rains.
