To the fans…
Thank you so much everybody for being so supportive and loving of me. I will never forget you. You were a big part of my life this year, thank you for caring and reading my words every week, thank you for your emails and messages, thank you for being so great!
As this is my last day as Miss Universe, all I can say is; I'm thankful to God for all the opportunities I’ve had and all the people I've met, the countries I’ve visited, the people that always were there for me, and, especially, my family!
I'm going to miss so much being Miss Universe and everything that comes with it, but I have to say, I'm very excited for the future of Dayana Mendoza.
I can't thank you enough!!!! So…

Hola Dayana, realmente me siento triste porque no sé si otra venezolana este año será la reina del universo. Nadie olvidara que hace un año deslumbrastes con tu desfile (esa vueltica) , cuando ligabas y confiabas en Dios, que quien ganara (era por su vuluntad) resultastes tu y mira lo maravillosamete bien que lo has hecho. Dayana, quiero darte las gracias a ti, por todo lo maravilloso que hicistes durante todo el año de tu reinado, trabajastes por causas nobles y humanitarias. Nunca olvidaremos desde la noche que desfilastes en el Miss Universo (aquella vuelta con tu vestido amarillo) ni cuano te encomendaste a Dios y ligabas que quien resultara ganadora llegara lejos y mira que lo lograste, era su voluntad de que la elegida lo hiciera bien. Cuando coronastes a tu compatriota, la corona se le cayo, porque definitivamente no se la merecia, en cuanto a la bellez fisica es muy hermosa pero en cuanto a su forma de expresarse, le falta bastante.

Dayana... Orgullo de mi país!!! Ahora no quedan dudas que las mujeres venezolanas tenemos con que... Yo estoy segura que lo que más impresiona en el mundo es nuestro carisma y ustedes han sido el vivo ejemplo... A pesar de las dificultades, siempre demostramos que lo más importante es ser felices... I WAS DISAPPOINTED with THE RESULT OF THE MS UNIVERSE 2009, there were no ASIAN COUNTRIES included in the TOP 15 (SEMI FINALIST), but IT IS OBSERVED THE MOST OF THE ASIAN GIRLS IS MOST BEAUTIFUL THAN THE OTHER COUNTRY SPECIALLY THE TITLE HOLDER OF MS UNIVERSE 2009!!!!!!!!. There's nothing wrong whether there is a BACK TO BACK case, but all over the world, proved that they were better than the other. WELL FOR ME DOMINICAN REPUBLIC is more deserved to take the title of MS UNIVERSE 2009.
I came from the PHILIPPINES, and watched the MS UNIVERSE 2009, I tried to finish the LIVE VIA SATELLITE of this pageant, actually I DONT WANT TO FINISH WATCHING IT, when PHILIPPINES didnt include in the TOP 15, which actually showed that MS PHILIPPINES, one of TOP LEADER BOARD here in GLOBAL BEAUTIES, people around the world like her, MS PHILIPPINES is very smart and beautiful compare to other candidates.
WELL FOR ME, Im happy EVEN MS PHILIPPINES didnt make it. BECAUSE we know she deserves to be the MS UNIVERSE 2009, unfortunately, I WILL THANK MS PHILIPPINES AND THE OTHER CANDIDATES who failed to bring HOME THE BACON, because IF THEY DIDNT LOOSE THE CONTEST, THERE WILL BE NO WINNERS, SO THE MS UNIVERSE 2009, and the other RUNNER's UP, supposed to THANK ALL THE LOOSERS, because THEY ARE NOT TO BE CONSIDERED AS WINNERS, IF SOME OF THEIR FOE DIDNT LOOSE.

MISS VENEZUELA DID NOT ANSWER THE QUESTION WRITE< WHAT THE JUDGES SMOKED DURING THIS NIGHT OF WAS ACOMPLOY BETWEEN DANALD TRUMP AND THEM IN ORDER TO GET CHAVES BACK
Wow! What a fiasco!!! How can she win when she provided a politically incorrect answer... She said there is no difference between man and woman in the corporate world and that there are no barriers for a woman to have an executive position! HOW COULD U SAY THAT! Unfortunately, we are not there yet. Just look at the percentages of woman CEO'S and CFO'S around the world and tell me if we are "the same" and there are no barriers... That was a steal!

Well, What to say on this gr8 day. It was fantastic ceremony and the great contest between all these 84 pegeants who tried their best, represent their country. As being a Asian I must say that there was something wrong with the judges taste. but any how I would like to congrats new miss universe2009. and for former Miss universe nothin much to say...we can understand her feelings to gave away her crown but is has designed like this....its called life and we have to keep it running no matter how it goes and where it takes us.

It was amazing when it came the end. I thought what the hell is doing Stefania here. She is cute but she does not deserve a second place. Things got even worst when I heard that "Dominican Republic" was the first runner up...oh my god...Miss Venezuela deserved a fifth place...But I see this a Mr Donald Trump Business. There must be a political and economical reason to explain the fact that Miss Venezuela wins the crown two consecutive years.

i would have to agree, the miss universe 2009 was somehow became racist. if you would observed the preliminary and telecast judges were ruled by whites and blacks, the top 15 qualifiers were represented by european descent , with african backgrounds of their respective countries, it was dissapointing. for miss U 2009 u deserved it but u were not that impressive compare to ur predeccesor. nonetheless, Congratulations! miss philippines you were stunning, the best philippine delagate from miss universe that i've ever seen. i hope next time they will put equal number of judges from each race or continent

Why is it that they announced that asians & latinas are likely to win & crowd favorites but instead mostly european countries got into the top15. No asian countries got into top15?In these MU website top 3 are brazil,indonesia,vietnam but none of them got into top15? I guess that judges got it wrong!

Miss PHILIPPINES Bianca Manalo deserves to be in the top15! She's beautiful,smart & talented. Miss Australia is beautiful,she should won the ms.photogenic & the Miss Universe title this year instead of Venezuela. What was the final answer of Ms.Venezuela??? I guess the judges,organizers, and Donald Trump who are in favor of ms.venezuela got it wrong this year... anyways, good luck next time girls or better boycott miss universe next year esp. asian countries!

We know that Venezuela is a country of beauties but some of them arent real,its already their yearly business to get the crown in the Miss Universe pageant. They should give other countries to win because this is a whole world competition not a latin america or latinas competition..

This was the wores miss universe i have ever wached i think Donald trump and his organizers planned their strategies to give miss venezuela. It is evident that their is some political gain for Donald trump. Look i am from the caribbean and it is obvious thatt their were no girls from the asian continent and from the caribbean. Most of the top 15 finalist are the same set of countries that are always placed . Is it that the other countries are not beautiful and inteligent. what about our caribbean girls what about bahamas and Jamaica these were contenders according to reports coming out of the Bahamas. This is the worse staging of the contest. The miss world organizers have move away from the poise, beauty and inteligence of the pageant to a political and financial gain.

WOW...didnt see that coming...first of all...WORST Miss Universe Pageant Ive ever seen...starting with the Music...WOW...whoever booked the talent should be fired immediately!!!!!!! Heidi Montag STUNK up the stage..Flo-Rida..cmon...he was terrible...his songs with the sexual connotation and then chasing after the contestants like a dog in heat...TERRIBLE...Miss Universe is supposed to be class and elegance not trash and gangster-ish...
Now...Venezuela??? Are you kidding me???? I agree with the people who posted above...no asians, no africans...and there were some MAJOR beauties that didnt make it in Top 15...I realzie we dont get to see the interviews so Ill accept that...but Venezuela wasnt even in my Top 15 list...she isnt anything special...Dayanna was special...she had star quality...you can see that...this girl isnt even close...Australia or Dom Republic absolutely shined on stage...and what is up with USA getting a "7" in evening gown...WOW...she was GORGEOUS....elegant,,her poise factor was WAY above those that made top 5...I dont speak english so I have NO CLUE how these women answered the questions...if you base it on what the interpretor said...none of them should have won...Australia should have...something is VERY VERY wrong in the Universe !!!!!!

Hi Miss Universe 2008. You are so much more beautiful than Stefanie. She has to wear makeup to look half as good as you do. The following contestments look beautiful without makeup, unlike Stefanie: Australia, Phillipines, Iceland, Belgium, Nicaragua, Guam, Angola, Nigeria, Ecquador, Vietnam, Russa, Costa Rica, Ireland, Slovenia and Bulgaria. Oh common! don't hate! it is just a beauty pageant, is not like Miss Universe is going to help Chavez to conquer the world pinky. How is it politically relevant for Venezuela to have a miss Universe? does having a miss universe alleviates the homeland troubles of the country? rises up the prices of oil? is there some UN law that gives miss universe a veto power on the Security council? and how exactly are you going to boycott a beauty pageant? are the girls going to stop shaving their legs or something? and bring Chavez back from where? he is not Manuel Zelaya lol and what could Donal Trump want from Chavez? to invest in a non-politically stable economy? is he trying to become Chavez apprentice? does he want to tell him he is fired?
Now about her answer, it was a decent answer, she ain't no rocket scientist or sociologist, she gave a simple reasonable answer she is a smart girl but she is a model not a professional on gender exclusion and her point of view must be respected, she is free to think whatever she wants, she didn't say anything offensive......... IT IS A BEAUTY PAGEANT PEOPLE
All the girls did a great job, they prepared themselves to go to this competition and Venezuela won that's it, she was the best and the judges, people who are qualified by the organization thought she was the best, so what's the big deal? If anything, miss Venezuela-Universe brings a great amount of joy to the country and that's it, we feel happy and proud and that's it.....today we have the same problems we just happen to have a smile on our faces

I must say im very dissapointed with the Miss Universe Organization...this years pageant was terrible, starting with the stage, and with the way the entire show was presented, it lacked so much what other years pageant had. And needless to say my dissapointment of who they chose for the new Miss Universe, i think its about time they give opportunity to contestants from Europe to win the title, Enough with Venezuela !! ..this year the European amd Asian countries had very beautiful girls and great contestants...I beleive the title of Miss Universe should have gone to Kosovo...not only was she beautiful, her evening gown and hairstyle was fit of a Queen....Enough of Venezuela...its well known all these girls from Venezuela have to undergo plastic surgery ..and simply thats not fair, I must clarify i have nothing against Venezuela but every year is the same thing. They are always runner ups or Title holders, yes they do have beautiful women, but i must remind everyone, there are other countries in this world as well, which have intelligent and beautiful women as well and disserve to be runners ups or title holders.... Gie other countries that have never won the Title a fair chance........Time for a CHANGE!!... this pageant is becoming very predictable...and thats a BIG MISTAKE !!.........
Last but not least i want to suggest Mr Trump.... this is Miss Universe, i think all the judges should be from different countries as well....that way everyone will be judged in a fair way, and the general public will feel great knowing that the pageant is fair , not biassed, and that its not political ...as it's looking nowdays or is it that the judges are told in advance who they have to choose???????????... and if there are political interests or other interests , i would like to remind that President CHAVEZ from Venezuela wants nothing to do with the United States....Time for a CHANGE MR TRUMP !!!!....

I can't believe there are no Asians in Top 15, Top 10 & top 5. I was so disappointed on the result. Asians are more pretty than those on Top 15. The judges were more in favor in Venezuela. I think Dominican Republic deserve to win the crown. Miss venezuela looks like a gay!

This was the first time i was dissappointed with the pageant. Miss venezuela does nto deserve the crown. Both miss dominican republic and miss australia scored higer points than miss venezuela and miss dominican republic had the higest score for the night gown. Miss dominican republic also answered her question while miss venezuela totally missed her question. Miss dominican republic deserves the crown because shes beautiful, elegant, and she has more charisma than miss venezuela!!

I'm from the Bahamas and was proud to see that my country was giving the opportunity to host the Miss Universe Pageant.
I must express my disappointment with the entertainment; tacky and inappropiate for a Miss Universe Pageant.
I was also disappointed in the selection of the 15 semi-finalist. After viewing the photos and video clippings on line I had expected Jamaica, Vietnam, Mexico and Thailand to be there.
I think the pageant committee and judges need to consist of people from various countries and races in order to have a more democratic decision.

She answered by saying that there is no longer a barrier for women to achieve what men has achieved. I think her answer was unacceptable. No more barriers? I don’t expect beauty queens to be Nobel Peace Prize winners, but if she truly thinks women across the globe are treated equally and face no barriers, she has to be an #%$#@. She could use her platform to highlight the atrocities committed against women globally, but how can she do that if she isn’t even aware?

I honestly have nothing against venezuela but I really thought that Dominican Rep. should have won or Puerto Rico or Kosovo if only her translator hadn't messed up. She answered by saying that there is no longer a barrier for women to achieve what men has achieved. I think her answer was unacceptable. No more barriers? I don’t expect beauty queens to be Nobel Peace Prize winners, but if she truly thinks women across the globe are treated equally and face no barriers, she has to be an #%$#@. She could use her platform to highlight the atrocities committed against women globally, but how can she do that if she isn’t even aware?

I spoke briefly with you just in passing several times and you never once turned away from me. Always the people's queen. I have watched severa Miss Universe Pageants live (in person) and I know that judging by the sound in the room and the reactions and look of shock and disbelief on the audience faces, they were very upset with the choice of Miss Venezuela for Miss Universe. However, she is the queen of the Universe now .The crown is more than a finalnal answer. The ladies competed in several categories, so who knows?
I do however, feel very disappointed that there were no Asian girls in the top 15. Like many around the world do. If I may say so, I feel that was a wrong move. Well lets wait to see what next years brings!

Hey pageant fairy, I agree with you. The crown is more than a final answer, but if she didn't answer her question correctly and she had one of the lowest scores of the top five, how did she win?
Here are the sum of the scores of the top five:
Dominican Republic: 18.617
Australia: 18.303
Kosovo: 18.04
Venezuela: 17.629
Puerto Rico: 17.583
So again i ask myself, how did she win if she didn't answer her question correctly and she had one of the lowest scores?

No es por nada... pero Rep. Dom no gano 1) Porque su respuesta fue la peor, como es eso de que *Con un minuto de cuidado podemos perder la vida* nisiquiera fue coherente, ademas que ella una semana antes del consurso cuando ellas firmaban autografos ella firmaba como *MISS UNIVERSO 2009* ¿Como vas a tener esa seguridad? ¿estas diciendo que las demas son feas y que tu eres la unica que merece ganar? eso la paso por #%$#@, la vida le paso factura y es una engreida. ella era muy despectiva.
2) Venezuela no tiene la culpa de que las candidatas que los otros paises envien No sean aptas para ganar, así de sencillo. Stefanía se lo gano porque fue la que mejor contesto porque es la mas elegante. Venezuela escoge a sus Mises en septiembre y los concursos son en agosto, osea tienen casi un año entero en preparacion. Ademas el Miss Venezuela le pertenece a una empresa Privada y Trump que es dueño de Miss Universo y el presidente se ODIAN. y nada mas hay que ver el video para saber que eso no fue preparado, Ni ellas mismas se lo creian.

Ademas Australia era bella pero el cuerpo era horrible, no tenia ni cintura, y puerto rico no era muy buena en la pasarela como Stefanía. Venezuela tiene las mismas posibilidades de ganar como las otras que estaban participando, que dayana haya ganado el año pasado no le quita posibilidades a ella para ganar este año... si era la mejor preparada pues lastima, de eso Venezuela no tiene la culpa.Quieren una candidata que gane?? PONGANLA A ESTUDIAR PASARELA, ORATORIA Y EJERCICIOS POR 4 HORAS AL DIA , y tal vez ganen.

While all previous winners are pictured with their MU Crown Dayana, the most loved and cherished of all, is shown with her Miss Venezuela's Crown. So sad. : - (
