Samantha Jo Bowers is a recent honors graduate of Harrisonville High School. Sports have always been a huge part of her life, and she began playing competitive basketball when she was just six years old. She says sports have made her "tough", given her self discipline, and taught her the importance of hard work. Samantha loves staying up to date on current events and plans to pursue a degree in Broadcast Journalism this fall. She stays active in her community by volunteering with charities like Hope House, Ronald McDonald House, and Harvester's Food Network. She recently started her own project collecting donations from local businesses to make care packages for the women and children staying at Hope House. Samantha is an advocate for healthy relationships, and has been invited to speak to groups of teens about the importance of respect in dating. She hopes that by sharing her story and message she can inspire teens to never let someone else stand in the way of their dreams.
