Morgan Kofoid has lived in the small town of Leon her entire life. She appreciates the small town values that have surrounded her. Growing up in a town with a population of about 2,000 and only one stop-light, one would think there isn’t much to do, but Morgan stays busy. She is a captain on her school’s varsity cheerleading squad, runs the 4x1 and shuttle hurdle relay on her school’s varsity track team, and plays varsity softball and basketball. She is also active in Student Council, SADD, Mentoring, Spanish Club, Methodist Youth Fellowship, and has maintained her Honor Roll status since the sixth grade. In her free time, Morgan loves to spend time with her family and friends, exercise, dance, sing, and babysit. She earns spending money working as a lifeguard during the summertime.
After high school, Morgan hopes to attend the University of Iowa to obtain her undergraduate degree in preparation for medical school. She hopes to have a long and rewarding career as a pediatric oncologist.
Morgan has been active in the Des Moines ALS Walk for a Cure for three years and plans to continue involvement with this great event. She is actively working with Sparrow Clubs to start a chapter in Iowa. Morgan is also currently working with Trinity Christian Church and youth leader to organize a mission trip for the summer of 2014.
