Are you more of a Miss Teen, Miss USA or Miss Universe?
MU
If you could change one thing about the world what would it be?
Bad education in my country. Peru has one of the Latin America's worst second educational systems-behind Haiti. Peru is the birthplace of world-famous persons -Mario Vargas Llosa (writer), Hernando de Soto (economist), Ima Sumac (soprano), Juan Diego Flores (tenor), Gaston Acurio (international chef), Carlos Noriega (astronaut), Alejandro Olmedo (tennis player) and Javier Pérez de Cuellar (UN Secretary, 1981-1992), but millions of children/women/Indigenous -make up majority of population- can not go to schools and other centers. This is serious setback to Peru.
Which celebrity would you invite to a dinner party and why?
Undoubtedly three ladies. Angelica Jolie (America's actress), Cecilia Bolocco (1987 Miss Universe) and Inés Ligrón (Chairman of Miss Japan Organization). I admire Angelica because she is a "mother of Africa"; she is a champion of women's rights (also against AIDS/HIV) on the African continent. She has worked her whole life to improve the lives of several children. Secondly, Cecilia is integral -very intelligent & pretty. From my perspective I think that she is a model for many entries around the world. Finally, Inés Ligrón, a hard-working person. Inés is a model for a lot of pageant directors!
What famous person does your personality most parallel?
I'm a freelance writer, a specialist on Olympic history and Third World nations. Certainly my personality is most parallel to David Wallechinsky, an expert on Olympic Games and foreign issues.
If you could be a part of any reality show (Idol, Runway), which would you choose and why?
Who Wants to Be a Millonaire? (on Miss Universe history- I will win the event! ). Because I have a good memory and I enjoy reading books about history, sports, Miss Universe, exotic nations -from Ethiopia, Maldives, Afghanistan to Haiti and Burkina Faso-, biographies, female leaders, black leaders, and politics. Furthermore, I have written several online articles and essays on nations, Olympics, politics, sports, history, and Miss Universe -"WELCOME TO THE BAHAMAS-THE LAND OF BEACHES (tribute to host-country), "WELCOME TO ELSALVADOR-THE COUNTRY OF YOUR LIFE""; & "TIMELINE-MISS UNIVERSE-THE OLYMPICS OF BEAUTY"...
If you showed me around your state (county, city, community, etc.), where would you take me? Why?
Macchu Picchu, one of the Seven Wonders of the World, and Lima, Peru's capital, where Karen Diane Baldwin,Miss Canada, was crowned Miss Universe 1982. Like Thailand, France and the Peoples's Republic of China, Peru is famous for its cuisine. In Lima you can eat Peruvian food, one of the world's best cuisines-from "aji de gallina" to "anticuchos"...it is a delicious!!!
If you could change one thing about beauty pageants, what would it be?
I would like to return the interviews of the seventies and 80s. When Bob Barker said, "Hello, Miss El Salvador"...or Good luck Miss Belize! Face to face (with unknown countries)...
