Boston & My Wisdom

posted by Stevi Perry at 06:28am on 06/08/2009

Hey Guys, Well, for starters I had such a great weekend in Boston, MA, for the Best Buddies challenge. I was very nervous at first about riding the 20 mile ride, but it turned out really well. The toughest part to me was the first 6 miles. They were filled with hills at the beginning of the race and I never thought I'd actually finish. I wish I would have done more though. After the race I felt like I could keep going and that was a warm up ride. haha! Maybe next year I will shoot for the full 100 miles. I plan to stay involved with Best Buddies after my reign as well as other charities because they have really touched my life this year. Moving forward, I went and checked out the dorms for next year. I must say the dorms are a lot nicer then what I expected.

It's going to be a huge change though. From living in a huge apartment in the heart of Manhattan to a dorm on the Upper East Side, it’s definitely going to be interesting. I'm so blessed though and wouldn't trade the opportunity for anything. I think it will give me a feel for college by living in the dorms. I guess we will find out. Well, the time is almost here. I started putting boxes together and getting things packed up to move out of the apartment. I have collected a lot of things through out my year as Miss Teen USA and I have definitely collected a lot of clothes by just living in NYC. Luckily, I don't have furniture to move out. It shouldn't be that much of a hassle. I go back to Arkansas this weekend for a week to get my wisdom teeth out. I'm so excited to see my family and friends, but at the same time I am terrified to get my wisdom teeth cut out. Hopefully, it won’t be that bad and I won't be miserable the whole time. I will be in and out of NYC and Arkansas for the rest of my reign. I get to go home for my birthday and spend a good bit of time with everyone. I'm excited because I haven't been home since Christmas. Anyway, I am about to run over to the office and get a news update from Paula (the president of the MUO) with Kristen.    I hope everyone has a great weekend.

Talk to you soon!   SP

My Daughter and I have always hosted a Miss USA party with several of her friends and watch the pageant. But that will not happen ever again!! Not that I am against gay marriage, but I think that Carrie should have the right to her opinion without losing her title. I do not want my Daughter or her friends to think that they have to say what is politically correct instead of what is in their hearts just to be accepted. This is not the message that I want them to get from this pageant. We will never watch it again.
