Journey to the Crown

posted by Rima Fakih at 12:38pm on 08/14/2010

This is a very important and exciting time in my life for so many reasons. I have the honor of representing the USA in the 2010 Miss Universe Pageant. I am living my dream of competing in the Pageant with 82 of the most beautiful women in the world. I have been working out hard, watching past Miss Universe pageants, and taking notes in preparation for my arrival at Mandalay Bay on August 7th. The Miss USA Pageant helped me prepare for what lies ahead, and has provided great insight on what I can expect at Miss Universe. However Miss USA had 51 contestants and Miss Universe has 80+ contestants from all over the world.  I try not to think about the pressure and instead concentrate on how I can reach the top. The last two weeks I have meet with my personal trainer, my walking coach, and my language coach who have all assisted in preparing my mind and body for the pageant.

I know this can be a challenging time for the contestants but we must not forget to have fun! Yes, we are constantly being judged but being yourself is the best way to impress the judges. The Miss Universe Organization has planned some exciting appearances and events, and I can’t wait to arrive in Las Vegas to have it all begin!

I encourage all of you to continue to support me in my quest for the Universe crown. Be sure to keep up with our news at www.missuniverse.com and let me know how I’m doing! Help me welcome the 80+ beauties coming to my home country. Let’s show them what American is all about. Help cheer me on like it's the world cup....USA...USA...USA :)

LOVE YOU ALL!

I just wanted you to know how proud I am to have you represent the US. You and your family are an example everything that makes our country great and I am confident you will do a wonderful job of showing 82 of your new friends around town. Win or not, I hope you cherish this experience. Try and keep a journal to refresh your memories and how you felt every day. Twenty years from now it will be a gift to yourself to be able to reread about these amazing days.

Good luck to you and have FUN!!!!!

It would be unfair and a big mistake FOR THE ORGANIZATION OF THE MISS UNIVERSE CROWN NOT ONLY TO THE BEST CANDIDATE because their ancestors were winners. MUST REPLACE THE CROWN TO THE MOST BEAUTIFUL, THE MOST INTELLIGENT, THE BEST WOMEN WITH HUMANITY AND CHARISMA AND THAT IS WITHOUT DOUBT THE VENEZUELAN Marelisa GIBSON

I would judge beauty and brain and that's what Miss USA and Miss Philippines.
Some of the contestants doesn't have these combinations. Miss venezuela, you are pretty but I think you need a little bit of emotion and i don't think you have a brain, same as you Miss France and Miss Canada. I live in Toronto but I don't how you got the title to represent our country;(

Oh what can I say.... Well... It's nice to know that Rima is a Good person and she's friends with the Best contestant like Philippines... both f you has to bring back the bacon but once of you will be the Queen. In the National Costume presentation, Rima failed to deliver the REAL costume of USA, while Philippines maintained the Culture of a true Filipina... Even with a simple gown, She Represented the National costume well... Not just like Venezuela whom seems to be like Lady Gaga in her outfit.. they must have let their contestant wore her traditional gown instead of using an outfit for a Costume party which USA also did. I hope Mr. Trump agrees to me that It's A national Costume competition not a masquerade party... The poise and class of a True beauty plus the gown of it's culture should be judged! Thanks ... Goodluck USA and Miss Philippines!

RIMA....I had a feeling you would win miss usa.I have another feeling you will win MISS UNIVERSE!!!!! Please continue being yourself and answering those questions with wit, sarcasm, intelligience, and you will win... Just watch out for angry fans from an out of control country on these chat boards... I am taking chances since i went to OHIO STATEIII haha.. I will have to say go to a UM GRAD... go rima go.. win rima win.. Be our first Miss Universe from U of M!!!

A few acronyms we use at Disney where i work in Orlando I wanted to share with you and some I made for you based on your beautiful name...

    T.E.A.M. Together Everyone Achieves More

    R.A.V.E Respect, Appreciate, Value, Everyone.

    RIMA Ready In My Attempts.

FAKIH From A Kindred Immigrated Home

    AMIR A Magical Inner Reality

    HIKAF Hapiness Is Keeping Friendships...

These are silly to some... But mean a lot to me as i work for disney and make magic everyday. The ones i made based on your beautiful name, just remind me of how much hard work you put into everything you have had to do in life, for I know how difficult UM is to attend and graduate. The ridiculous things you have probably had to face as a beautiful girl from an American family who happens to be ARAB. You have probably had to fight to get everything you have. You could just tell you were a fighter ane believed in yourself so much at USA. Keep that fire at UNIVERSE.. My friends and I whom all watch, coach, or have competed in an alternative style of pageantry were blown away by how you owned that stage in swimsuit, gown, and Q &A.. Stay smart, quirky, sarcastic yet educated with that microphone, and we loved how you said thank you after answering... AND one more thing.. How you continue to smile at all times.. EVEN with your eyes... You are a natural beauty sent to this earth to make a difference and to gap communites divided by religion....Sincerely, timothy jon hickman, ORLANDO FLORIDA VIA IRONTON OHIO...

ALSO I WORK WITH MANY MUSLIMS, MOSTLY FROM MOROCCO. AS RAMADAN IS HERE, AND I HAVE LEARNED SO MUCH FROM MY MUSLIM BROTHERS AND SISTERS OVER THE PAST 16 YEARS, ALL ARE SO PROUD OF YOU. THEY REALIZE HOW MUCH PRESSURE IT IS FOR YOU TO COMPETE DURING THIS TIME. THEY ALL WANT YOU TO WIN SO BADLY. I TOLD THEM I WAS GOING TO SEND THE ACRONMYMS AND HOPEFULLY YOU WOULD READ THEM IN TIME. THEY ALL THOUGHT THE ONES ABOUT YOUR NAMES WERE BEAUTIFUL AND IT MADE THE GIRLS CRY..THEY ALL TOLD ME TO TELL YOU THEY WOULD HAVE YOU IN THEIR PRAYERS DURING THIS SPECIAL TIME IN YOUR RELIGION OF RAMADAN, AND THEY WOULD SAY EXTRA SPECIAL ONES FOR YOU... I ASKED THEM TOO ANYWAY... ONE MORE TIME..
GO RIMA GO. WIN RIMA WIN!!! BE OUR FIRST MISS UNIVERSE FROM U OF M!!!!

I agree Frank Rima is definitely a true beauty vying for the spot of Miss universe. Rima wore red not blue. Perhaps you were referring to to Miss venezuelas gown of blue with the top of beeds/stones, it was kind of odd looking but she was beautiful. In case you didnt realize i notice you post a lot under RIma's BLOG. This is RIMA's blog for anyone to read and post, but it would be more appropriate and a better representation for your favorite country to post under Miss Venezuelas blog instead of Miss Usa's blog. It just makes you look out of place, like you are lost and think you are under Stefania's blog. Just in case you did not know, YOU ARE UNDER MISS USA'S BLOG, WHOM IS RIMA FAKIH, WHOM IS FROM DEARBORN MICHIGAN.... GOOD LUCK TO YOUR BEAUTIES AND CONCERN FOR A THIRD VICTORY.. JUST THOUGHT ID LET YOU KNOW... TIM

I think Miss PHILIPPINES and Miss USA deserves the title to be the Miss UNIVERSE 2010. Rima as an immigrant showed passion. Venus whose was born in middle east shocased humanity and determination. Despite the challenges that Miss Philippines faced, she stood up and showed to the whole universe that the real beauty is being humble, determined and most of all a woman who embraces equality among races. SHE CAME FROM A POOR FAMILY WHO LIVED A A FARM BUT SHE WAS DETERMINED ENOUGH AND PURSUED A COLLEGE DEGREE AND GRADUATED AS A #%$#@ LAUDE. SHE SETS AN EXAMPLE TO ALL THE PEOPLE IN THIS WORLD THAT POVERTY IS NOT A HINDRANCE TO SUCCESS. I AM VERY PROUD OF YOU MS. MA. VENUS RAJ - MISS PHILIPPINES -MISS UNIVERSE 2010. WE ARE PRAYING FOR YOUR SUCCESS. GOD BLESS YOU MISS PHILIPPINES. FILIPINOS ALL OVER THE GLOBE WILL ROCK THE HEAVEN WITH PRAYERS FOR YOUR SUCCESS.... ALWAYS REMEMBER WHAT MANNY PACQUIAO SAID ..... FILIPINOS ARE WORTH FIGHTING FOR. GOD BLESS THE MISS UNIVERSE ORGABIZATION

lets all face it, each candidate has a distinct beauty both inside and out. however, at the end of it all like in any other competition only the best will stand victorious and hold the crown. we all know that the true essence of beauty cannot be calculated by mere physical characteristics alone. beauty is a culmination of many things such as background, attitude and outlook in life, a heart full of love and service, charisma, eloquence, willing to take accountabilities and challenges, elegance, much of professionalism, integrity etc. and viewing the clips and videos here, the girl from the Phillipines stands the best among them as she carries with her all the criteria and package to represent the mission, objectives, responisibilities and philosophy of Miss universe organization.

What a complete mess miss universe pageant was...it was the most boring ever. Rima was obviously used as some freakin statement..There were some pretty girls in the top 15. BUT my goodness, some were just awful.. It is just a shame.. Look over the past 6 years or so.. A complete tool for trump to use for his own fun and gain. I am so sorry for RIMA whom was as stunnin as anyone on that stage. The top five was a mess. I could not believe my eyes.. Have a great year Rima, there a thousands of fans out here that love you, and just dont know what to think about what happened last night....

We should be fair for this contest by requiring every contestant to speak in english during their Q & A portion. Ms. Mexico and other contestant are using interpreter to buy some time to answer the question. This is purely a cheating one. Speaking with their own language will give them less pressure to think of the answer. So I am calling the attention of the Ms. Universe organizer to please require every contestant to speak english. Let see if Mexico and other countries who are using interpreter could win this pageant again. Just sharing ideas and thoughts here to make things right and fair to everyone. If you dont act now then something is wrong with this organization.

Rima, we are all so annoyed from Miss Universe Org. for not selecting you to enter the Top 15 at Miss Universe... it was so unfair and the judgment was very biased and disgusting.

I have watched you in the pictures.... you were the one with the most charisma and confidence and I do not see how the judges and MUO missed that... Were they all sleeping or something?!!!

Rima, after Miss USA, go to Miss World USA and win! Then go to Miss World, and win!!!!! Take your vengence!!!

Hey Rima!! I just wanted you to know that as far as I am concerned you deserved to be in the Top15, Top 10 and Top 5 on the night of the competition. However, having said that I just want you to know that no matter what happened YOU are still Miss USA and you are AMAZING!! I have seen back stage videos and photos of you and it appears that you were having a great time and I hope that you made a ton of new friends that will stay with you forever. So chin up, head high - you are an amazing and beautiful woman and I, as an American citizen could not have been more proud to you standing on that stage representing my country.
