What Happens in Vegas and the Miss North Carolina and Miss California Pageant

posted by Kristen Dalton at 12:08pm on 11/20/2009

This past weekend, I traveled to Las Vegas to attend the Rock for the Cure Benefit Gala for Nevada Cancer Institute. This was one of the most extravagant and spectacularly decorated galas I have ever been to. I saw a lot of familiar faces of people I have worked with in the past at Nevada Cancer Institute. Larry King and Jay Leno performed and they had the audience rolling with laughter, as I am sure you can imagine. I felt like I had an intense ab workout, I was laughing so hard. All of the people at the gala were extremely generous as the event raised 20 million dollars woohoo!!

The next morning, I went to North Carolina to help co-host the NC USA pageant and crown the new titleholders!! It was so much fun meeting all of the contestants and watching them compete. I got to see my family too which is always a plus! This week has been filled with events which you can see on our website. Probably one of the highlights would have to be volunteering at God's Love We Deliver, which is an organization that provides meals to people living with diseases and are unable to cook and provide for themselves. I worked in the kitchen with a group of volunteers cutting up pumpkins and potatoes for two hours!

Now I am packing for my weekend trip to Palm Springs where MUO and I will help support the Miss CA USA pageant and support the new winners!! I can't wait to go because I get to see some of my favorite people, Tami Farrell, Meagan Tandy, Raquel Beezely, and Chelsea Gilligan!!

Also, I’m really looking forward to my trip to Fort Drum next week. In case you haven’t heard, this Thanksgiving, I will be spending the holiday with the military men, women and families of Fort Drum Installation Base, home of the 10th Light Infantry Division. Fort Drum, which has been harboring our troops since 1908, currently houses over 30,000 military men, women, staff members and their families.

At Fort Drum, I will get to know the soldiers and their families, help serve Thanksgiving meals, host a movie night and help make lasting holiday memories. I feel genuinely privileged to be spending such an important day with such an outstanding group of people. Check out the News section to read more.

I hope everyone had a great week!

Catch ya later,

Kristen
